D. J. Qualls once returned to his home in Santa Monica after several days in Los Angeles and was surprised to find that the new bar of soap which he had left on his sink was nearly gone. Some time later, a similar incident claimed much of a new tube of toothpaste...
Next, Qualls began to get dozens of 'hangup' calls. Convinced that he was being stalked, he started using *69 to leave messages for his tormentor.
Only later did Qualls learn that, due to a technical error, he had been receiving calls intended for the television show "I'm a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here!" -- and had left the following message on answering machines across L.A.: "Look you [censored]! I'm going to find you and beat your ass with a hammer!"
