AC/DC

While working as a mechanic (in a bra factory!) one day, Malcolm Young often noticed "AC/DC" inscribed on the sewing machines. Assuming it had something to do with power, he and his brother (Angus Young) adopted the term as the name of their band. They were right, of course: AC/DC indeed stands for "Alternating Current / Direct Current."
Some time later, however, the band discovered that AC/DC is also slang... for "bi-sexual."

[AC/DC has also incorrectly been rumored to stand for "Anti-Christ Devil's Children."]

[Malcolm once claimed to have played in The Velvet Underground. In a sense it was true: His Australian bandmates had stolen the name.]
