Airing Approval?

For Emma Thompson's twenty-eighth birthday, Kenneth Branagh (who became her husband in 1989) left a series of notes in her apartment which led to a small pile of gifts.
"The last envelope was 'Go and look in the airing cupboard,'" Thompson recalled. And what was in the airing cupboard? Kenneth Branagh!

[Thompson's verdict? "A good present, that!"]

[Branagh on meeting Emma (on the set of the miniseries Fortunes of War): "We didn't exactly go doiinngg... You spend a lot of time staring into someone's eyes, something tricks you into thinking maybe something's there." Emma on romance: "Romance is a bit of a con, really; it simply does not last, in that way. Friendship and humor, work and thought last. You have find somebody whom you can sink into, as into a comfortable armchair." Branagh in US magazine: "Marriage is an extremely dangerous step--don't do it until you have shagged everything with a pulse."]
