Though often described as a gifted interviewer, the writer Barbara Grizzuti Harrison (famed for her early life as a Jehovah's Witness) made a less favorable impression during an interview (for The New York Times Magazine) with a slimmed down Oprah Winfrey in 1989.
Her opening comment? "I bet you hate fat people now."
[Grizzuti Harrison (who smoked as many as six packs of cigarettes a day) once called the novelist Joan Didion a "neurasthenic Cher."]
