Even after breaking his neck at an equestrian competition in 1995, Christopher Reeve managed to star in a re-make of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. While filming a scene in which the hero begins to choke to death, Reeve, for maximum effect, insisted on having his breathing tube cut.
