The Smashing Pumpkins' video for "1979" ends in a convenience store. Though Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan wanted the video to end with the store being demolished and the clerk being pummeled, the directors demurred. He and the Corgan finally reached a compromise. The video indeed ends with the depiction of a minor crime: the girl seen driving off in a car did not have her license.
[The car, picked because it looked like a beater, broke down five times. And for another scene, skid marks were painted on the ground -- because the car couldn't go fast enough to leave real ones.]
