"At Hurstmonceaux friends brought an American woman to lunch," Peter Coats once recalled. "On being asked about her yachting trip around the Greek Islands she said she had gone as far as Constantinople and even into the Black Sea. 'So you saw the Dardanelles?' 'No,' she replied, 'They were away.'"
