One day in December 2002, David Duchovny was approached by a female fan in Chicago and asked to autograph a nude picture of himself. Duchovny gently informed the woman that he was the man in the photograph. The fan became so upset that he asked for her address and promised to send a replacement picture in the mail. A couple of weeks later, the woman received a shot of Duchovny in his underwear, along with a note: "Sorry I'm not nude," it read, "but this is the closest I can come with my wife hovering around."
