Dorothy




In 1927, during his courtship of the journalist Dorothy Thompson, Sinclair Lewis followed her all across Europe. One day he arrived at the Moscow airport, where the press was waiting:
"What brought you to Russia?" he was asked.
"Dorothy," he replied.
"We mean what's your business here?" someone asked.
"Dorothy," he replied.
"You misunderstand. What do you plan to see in Russia?"
"Dorothy," he replied...

[They were eventually married (and divorced).]
