Eliot Spitzer - phone prank

Even as adults, Eliot [New York Governor Eliot Spitzer] and his siblings have not outgrown a penchant for practical jokes. In 1994, [sister] Emily was booked on a cable TV call-in show in New York. The subject was women's rights, and in addition to Emily, at that time a young, unknown lawyer for the Legal Defense and Education Fund, the panel featured Carol Bellamy, then a prominent force in local politics, as well as two other well-known activists. The show began with a brief discussion, then the moderator opened it up to the viewers. The phone rang, and the caller said, 'I have a question for Emily Spitzer.' Emily answer the question, an easy one. The phone rang again. 'I have a question for Emily Spitzer.' Incredibly, almost every call was for her. Finally: 'I have a question for Emily Spitzer.' This time, she recalls, it was an extraordinarily complicated question involving some arcane point of constitutional law, and she recognized the voice. Eliot had recruited a number of his friends to come to his apartment and take turns calling in questions: they lobbed her a series of softballs, which she hit out of the park; and then he stepped in to throw her the fastball."
