Judith Salkin in The Desert Sun (Palm Springs, CA): "There are a couple of old jokes about empty nesters. In the first, parents stand tearfully saying their goodbyes as the kid leaves in the overstuffed car for college. After he pulls away from the curb, they race up to his room and start measuring it for a hot tub, yoga retreat or office and, in the end, leave it as it is. In the second, three women, whose children have recently moved out, go to lunch. The first says, 'Ooohhh...' the second says, 'Ooohhh...' and the third says, 'We promised not to talk about the kids.'"
