Peter Drucker asks GM Publc Relations chief a question




In the early 1930's, GM CEO Alfred P. Sloan appointed Paul Garrett as the company's first public relations officer. Peter Drucker, then working for the newly-launched Fortune magazine, asked him to describe his "main job." Garrett's reply? "To keep Fortune away from GM."
