Construction of the Raj Mahal, a palace in Orchha in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, was begun by Raja Rudra Pratap some time between 1525 and 1531. He was unable to complete it, however, because he was killed while trying to rescue a cow from the clutches of a tiger.
