Vagina Monologue

In order to promote a celebrity-studded rally to combat violence against women at New York's Madison Square Garden in February, 2001, the event's sponsor, Marie Claire magazine, asked several celebrities to answer a question raised in Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues":
If your vagina were to wear clothes, what would it wear? And what would it say?
Brooke Shields' vagina, the actress declared, "would have an eclectic wardrobe. One thing would not be enough. It would have fine materials -- cashmere and Pucci."
And what would it say? It would proudly proclaim, "I belong!"

[New Yorker scribe Nancy Franklin's verdict? "Mine would wear earplugs, so it wouldn't have to listen to such dopey lines of inquiry."]

[Shields once did a jeans commercial in which she delivered the classic line: "If my jeans could talk, would I be embarrassed?"]
