In 1998 Viggo Mortensen and his son Henry took a road trip together from New York to Los Angeles. Henry, whom Viggo allowed to choose the route, asked to go to Memphis, Chicago, Boston, and Seattle -- in that order. 'Instead of being three thousand miles, it was about fourteen thousand miles,' Viggo recalled. 'I looked at [the map, covered in zigzag lines] and thought, F*ck it, we'll do it. Because when will we ever have another chance?'
